Located in Monbazillac in southwest France, Grande Maison Monbazillac produces sweet wines from vineyards overlooking the Dordogne River. The wines are based primarily on Sémillon supported by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grown on limestone and clay soils favourable to the development of noble rot. Grapes are harvested in successive passes to select botrytised berries before slow fermentation and ageing in oak barrels. The 1996 vintage produced wines with remarkable concentration and ageing potential. With extended bottle age, the wine shows complex evolved character, combining honey, dried apricot and candied citrus notes with vibrant acidity and long finish typical of mature Monbazillac. https://grandemaison-monbazillac.com/
