Located in Gaiole, Castello di Ama produces Il Chiuso as an expression of Pinot Nero from their estate vineyards. Il Chiuso is named after the farm, where Pinot Nero was planted in 1984 with Morey-Saint-Denis clones (Burgundy). This noble variety is cultivated in predominately chalky soil at approximately 500 metres above sea level. Planted on galestro soils at altitude, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak to preserve varietal character.
