Aladasturi is an indigenous red grape variety from western Georgia, cultivated principally in Imereti and Guria. It produces fragrant, delicately structured wines defined by freshness and elegance rather than weight. Typical aromas include red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry, pomegranate and dried rose petals, often accompanied by subtle spice and earthy complexity. Naturally moderate in colour and tannin, Aladasturi is well suited to both graceful dry reds and vibrant rosé wines. When fermented and matured in qvevri, it develops greater texture, savoury depth and gently grippy tannins while retaining its characteristic red-fruited brightness.
