Jérôme Prévost, under his La Closerie label, has achieved near cult status for his singular expression of Pinot Meunier. Working from a small, historic parcel in Gueux, west of Reims, Prévost produces just one principal cuvée each year, guided by vintage rather than replication. His philosophy is rooted in Burgundy rather than Champagne tradition—single vineyard, low intervention, and a clear emphasis on texture and depth. Fermentation takes place in barrel, lending structure and complexity, while extended ageing builds nuance without masking the wine’s core. The wines are rich yet finely poised, combining orchard fruit, spice, and a distinctive savoury edge. Meunier here is elevated—serious, age-worthy, and unmistakably individual. Production remains extremely limited, and allocations are highly sought after. Prévost’s Champagnes are not about consistency, but about authenticity—each release a snapshot of site and season.
