2021 Weingut Leo Alzinger Riesling Höhereck Smaragd
Based in Dürnstein in the Wachau, Weingut Leo Alzinger crafts precise Riesling from steep Danube terraces. Höhereck is a higher-altitude parcel with primary rock soils, producing refined, mineral wines. Classified as Smaragd, it reflects full ripeness and structure. The 2021 vintage was fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees to preserve purity. Compared to Loibenberg Riesling, Höhereck is more restrained and linear, showing citrus zest, stone fruit and pronounced mineral tension with focused acidity and ageing capacity. https://alzinger.at/
