Produced exclusively from estate-grown fruit in the coastal Kaikōura wine region, Windsor represents the flagship expression of Esses Wine Company and its commitment to premium traditional method sparkling wine. Crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the wine reflects the region’s cool maritime climate, long growing season, and limestone-influenced soils, all of which contribute to its distinctive freshness and precision. Fruit is harvested by hand and gently pressed before undergoing primary fermentation. The base wines are carefully assembled to balance purity, structure, and complexity before secondary fermentation in bottle. Extended maturation on lees enhances texture and depth while preserving the vibrant acidity that defines the Kaikōura style. Following disgorgement, the wine is given additional bottle age prior to release, allowing the various elements to integrate harmoniously. The 2022 vintage displays aromas of lemon zest, green apple and freshly baked brioche. The palate is elegant and finely structured, combining a persistent mousse with bright acidity and a distinctive mineral finish.
