2024 J-P et Charly Thévenet Morgon Vieilles Vignes
Jean-Paul Thévenet is one of the legendary figures of the “Gang of Four” who helped redefine Beaujolais through low-intervention viticulture and traditional winemaking. Today, alongside his son Charly, he continues to craft expressive wines from some of Morgon’s finest sites. Morgon Vieilles Vignes is produced entirely from Gamay sourced from old vines planted on decomposed granite and schist soils, with vine age contributing both concentration and complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented using traditional semi-carbonic maceration with indigenous yeasts, followed by maturation in large, neutral oak barrels. The 2024 vintage reveals aromas of black cherry, raspberry and violets. The palate is layered and structured, supported by vibrant acidity and a long, mineral finish.
