2014 Weingut Leo Alzinger Riesling Reserve
Based in Dürnstein, Weingut Leo Alzinger crafts site-focused Riesling from steep Danube slopes. The Riesling Reserve is selected from older vines in prime parcels with gneiss soils, harvested at full ripeness. Bottled outside Wachau categories, it represents a concentrated, age-worthy style. The cooler 2014 vintage was fermented in stainless steel with partial large oak ageing and extended lees contact. Compared to Smaragd wines, the Reserve is broader and more layered, showing ripe stone fruit, mineral depth and structured acidity with long ageing capacity.
