Based in Baños de Ebro in Rioja Alavesa, Bodegas Artuke is a family estate focused on village and single-parcel wines from old bush vines. Finca de Los Locos comes from a distinctive vineyard planted in 1981 on a plateau near Baños de Ebro, where calcareous clay soils sit over fractured limestone bedrock. Predominantly Tempranillo with small amounts of Graciano, it is fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and aged in 600-litre French oak barrels to preserve site character. The warm 2022 vintage produced a wine of clarity and energy. Compared to Pies Negros, Finca de Los Locos is more structured and mineral, combining red cherry, subtle herbal notes and firm, chalky tannins. https://www.artuke.com
