Based in Oberloiben in the Wachau, Weingut F. X. Pichler farms steep terraced vineyards planted on ancient gneiss soils. Steinertal is one of the coolest sites of the estate, producing Grüner Veltliner with notable mineral precision. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel and large oak vessels before ageing on fine lees. The cooler 2021 vintage emphasised freshness and structure. Compared with the richer Loibenberg wines, Steinertal shows a more linear and mineral-driven profile, combining lime, green apple and subtle herbal notes with pronounced tension.
