Based in Oberloiben in the Wachau, Weingut F. X. Pichler cultivates steep terraced vineyards overlooking the Danube. Liebenberg is a warm site above Dürnstein with weathered gneiss soils that produce concentrated yet elegant Grüner Veltliner. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel and large oak vessels before ageing on fine lees to build texture. As a Smaragd wine, it represents the estate’s most powerful dry style. Compared to Kellerberg, Liebenberg tends to show slightly more aromatic lift and spice, combining ripe pear, stone fruit and white pepper with firm structure and mineral tension. https://www.fx-pichler.at
