2025 Domaine Bonnet-Huteau Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Les Gautronnières
Produced from 100% Melon de Bourgogne grown in the historic Les Gautronnières vineyard in La Chapelle-Heulin, this wine is a distinctive expression of one of Muscadet’s most fascinating terroirs. The vineyard is planted on shallow soils over green volcanic rocks, gabbro and amphibolite, geological formations that impart depth, minerality and a characteristic smoky complexity to the finished wine. Farmed according to certified organic and biodynamic principles, the vineyard is managed with a strong focus on soil health and terroir expression.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts to preserve the natural character of the fruit and vineyard. Following fermentation, the wine is matured on its fine lees in underground glass-lined tanks, gaining texture and complexity while retaining freshness and precision. The wine is bottled without fining, allowing the purity and mineral character of the site to remain intact.
The 2025 vintage displays aromas of lemon zest, green apple and white peach, layered with subtle notes of sea spray, crushed stone and delicate smoke. The palate is concentrated and energetic, combining vibrant citrus fruit with a saline mineral backbone and impressive mid-palate depth. Lees ageing contributes a gentle creaminess that balances the wine’s bright acidity, leading to a long, dry and savoury finish.
A classic terroir-driven Muscadet, Les Gautronnières showcases the remarkable complexity and ageing potential of Melon de Bourgogne when grown on exceptional soils. It is a natural partner for oysters, shellfish, grilled fish and seafood dishes, while its mineral precision and freshness make it equally compelling as an aperitif.
