2016 Weingut Leo Alzinger Grüner Veltliner Steinertal Smaragd
Based in Dürnstein in the Wachau, Weingut Leo Alzinger farms steep stone terraces overlooking the Danube, focusing on precise, site-driven wines. Steinertal is one of the estate’s highest and coolest vineyards, dominated by primary gneiss rock with minimal topsoil. Classified as Smaragd, it represents a structured and age-worthy style. The cooler 2016 vintage was fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees to build texture while retaining clarity. Compared to Loibenberg, Steinertal Smaragd is tighter and more mineral, showing citrus, white pepper and firm acidity with pronounced linear structure and long ageing potential. https://alzinger.at/
