2017 Cellier des Cray Cuvée Albinum
Based in Beaujolais, Cellier des Cray produces small-scale wines from limestone-rich soils. Cuvée Albinum is sourced from parcels planted to Gamay on calcareous clay soils. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, often using semi-carbonic maceration to preserve fruit purity, followed by ageing in neutral oak barrels. The balanced 2017 vintage delivered freshness and structure. Compared to Grand Zeph, Albinum is more approachable and fruit-forward, combining red cherry, subtle spice and fine tannins with mineral lift.
