2018 Château Montlandrie Côtes de Castillon
Located on the limestone plateau of Castillon on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, Château Montlandrie is owned by Denis Durantou, the renowned vigneron behind Château L’Eglise-Clinet in Pomerol. The vineyard is planted primarily to Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon on clay-limestone soils overlooking the Dordogne Valley. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats followed by ageing in French oak barrels to develop structure and complexity. The warm 2018 vintage delivered generous fruit and concentration. Compared with classic Saint-Émilion wines nearby, Montlandrie often shows a slightly fresher limestone-driven profile, combining plum, dark cherry and subtle spice with refined tannins and long mineral finish typical of Castillon. https://www.denis-durantou.com/
