Based in the northern Rhône Valley, Domaine Julien Pilon produces La Porchette from steep Côte-Rôtie terraces planted primarily to Syrah with a small proportion of Viognier. The vineyards grow on granite soils that contribute both structure and aromatic complexity. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts followed by maturation in French oak barrels. The balanced 2019 vintage delivered concentrated fruit supported by vibrant acidity. Bottled in magnum, the wine matures more slowly, allowing greater development of complexity over time.
