Based in Martinborough in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand, Kusuda Wines produces Syrah from low-yield vineyards farmed with exceptional attention to detail. The vines grow on gravel soils that provide excellent drainage and contribute freshness to the wines. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts followed by ageing in French oak barrels. The warm 2022 vintage delivered ripe fruit balanced by lively acidity. Compared with the 2021 vintage, this release shows slightly broader texture while maintaining the estate’s hallmark precision, combining blackberry, plum and pepper notes with elegant structure and long finish.
