Based in the Bierzo region of northwest Spain, Michelini i Mufatto farms old vineyards planted on slate and clay soils. A Merced is produced primarily from Mencía grown on hillside parcels around Ponferrada. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts followed by ageing in neutral oak vessels to preserve fruit purity. The balanced 2021 vintage delivered both freshness and structure. Compared with the estate’s other wines, A Merced emphasises the classic character of Bierzo, combining red berry fruit, floral notes and subtle spice with vibrant acidity and mineral finish.
